Fostering Excellence, Shaping Futures, and Building a Legacy of Success

A Brief History

Situated amidst the historical Dadigama city in the Sabaragamuwa Province, and nestled on a picturesque hill overlooking the Colombo-Kandy main road in the Beligala Korale of the Kegalle Education Zone, stands the majestic Tholagamuwa Vidyalaya. This institution has been honing the skills of countless students, serving as a beacon of pride for the Sinhala nation.

Originally established in 1914, the school began as a company school with the support of a local notable, Ralahami of Radawana, and the villagers. In 1925, it was taken over by the government and renamed as a vernacular school in 1926. Senanayake Taxala was established at its current location on February 14, 1929, as a Sinhala mixed school. In 1942, it transformed into a rural mixed school, with a strong emphasis on agriculture and practical economic skills.

Today, this school, renowned as 1AB, continues to produce scholars who contribute to the nation and the world. The journey of Senanayake Vidyalaya is akin to a small stream that has evolved into a magnificent river.
